We service the community of the City of Port Phillip

South Melbourne Districts Sports Clubs is the largest and most diverse community sports clubs in the inner metro area. Strong connections to the community are evident through our federation of sports operating under the SMDSC structure and the historic ‘Bloods’ banner.

Steeped in history, the ‘Bloods‘ senior football section date back to 1912 when first formed and have been part of the local community fabric for over a century of events and change. Closely aligned with the original South Melbourne and now Sydney Swans, our Senior Football section compete in the VAFA competition and field teams in the senior men’s, senior women’s and under 19 men’s competitions.

Our senior athletics section date back to the mid 1930’s and have been a force in athletics ever since.  Many past champions have proudly represented the club and now with the  current Australian women’s half marathon champion continuing the Bloods athletic traditions.

We are exceptionally proud of our junior sporting programs with opportunities for our members to compete in athletics, football  and cricket at all levels and abilities. With 450 junior footballers across 24 teams, over 350 Auskickers, 300 little athletes, 200 junior cricketers across 14 teams and 250 participants in the entry level cricket programs, junior sport is a hugely vibrant and exciting part of the club.

All sports are managed by highly committed volunteer committees who ensure our programs reflect our club and community values. Our programs welcome all new participants and provide a safe, fun environment to enjoy sport and for families to connect with the community.
